Our Policies

    • To reserve your hedgehog, a non-refundable $50 deposit is required. This deposit is only required once a specific baby is selected and is not required to join the waitlist.

    • Remaining payments are due at pickup.

    • Our hedgehogs start at $200, and prices will vary based on age, gender, color, markings and temperament. Occasionally, we may reduce fees.

    • Baby hedgehogs are ready for adoption at 7–8 weeks, with a starter food bag included. Hedgehogs must weigh at least 175g and be at least 7–8 weeks old.

    • Pickup location will be shared only with approved applicants when scheduling pickup. 

    • Babies should be picked up promptly at their ready dates. If pickup is not completed within 10 days, your deposit may be forfeited unless other arrangements are made in advance.

    • The waiting list is always open. To be placed on the list, a completed prospective buyer form is required; a deposit is not required until a baby is selected.

    • We will contact the waitlist in order of placement. If there is no response within 24 hours, the spot will move to the next adopter.

    • Your hedgehog will be healthy, parasite-free, and disease-free at the time of adoption to the best of our knowledge.

    • We recommend a veterinary examination within 7 days of receiving your hedgehog. If a health issue present at adoption is confirmed, please contact The Prickle Patch immediately to discuss next steps.

    • We provide a lifetime warranty for Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS) for all hedgehogs born at The Prickle Patch. Proof through a licensed professional is required to qualify for a replacement.

    • This guarantee excludes accidental injury or death, neglect, improper diet, disclosed pre-existing conditions, or veterinary expenses.

    • If you are no longer able to care for your hedgehog, please do not hesitate to contact us for a rehoming solution at any stage of life. If you are rehoming your pet to someone else, please let us know so we can update our records and pass along our contact information so we can continue to support the new owner. 

    • If you decide to surrender to us, we do not offer "buybacks".

    • We reserve the right to rehome any surrendered hedgehogs after quarantine.

    • All sales are final. No refunds.

    • The Prickle Patch is not liable for injuries, illness, or death resulting from neglect, improper care, or accidents after adoption.

    • We reserve the right to refuse adoption to any individual or entity at our discretion.
